Fashion’s biggest night-
Oscar night is THEE night in Hollywood for fashion. It wraps up award season and most celebrities save their best looks for last.
More often than not, the actors and actresses nominated really make it a point to bring their “A-game”. If they are accepting an Oscar, they want to make sure they look incredible and nothing less.
A lot of people were great this year on the carpet, but I selected the looks I felt went above and beyond.
1. Amy Adams in Versace
Amy Adams had such a regal prescience. She is no stranger to the academy awards and it really comes through. She had her hair in loose Hollywood waves that fell just below her shoulders. She was in a strapless Versace gown that looked made for her body. Versace is known to have very vibrant pieces, but the pattern work on this was subtle and complimented her jewels perfectly. The white and silver tones of the dress looked effortless against her milky white skin. She was simply glowing. Amy was nominated for her role in The Vice so it’s no surprise she put effort into her look.
2. Gemma Chan in Valentino
Gemma Chan is new on the scene, however, since her role in Crazy Rich Asians everyone is surely paying attention to her now. Like her character in the movie, she exudes such poise and high-end fashion sense. She wore a vibrant pink Valentino gown and looked gorgeous. Not many people would be able to pull off this shapeless, high neck piece but her tall slender frame fit it well. Her hair was up in a messy bun paired with large earrings. I appreciated as a newbie her ability to take a risk and not play it safe. I think she’s going to be someone to watch for red carpets to come!
3. Irina Shayk in Burberry
Irina is no stranger to bringing her fashion “A- Game” to a carpet, however she is a stranger to award season of red carpets. She’s been by Bradley Cooper’s side and she’s made sure she looked her best while doing so. Irina looked like a trophy herself in a black Burberry mock neck dress. She was sporting a slick blunt bob which complimented the high neckline on the dress. I really loved how she chose to be simple. The gown had gold tassel details around the waist and sleeves and included an open back. With her hair so short it really allowed for the dress to show off her amazing model figure. Bradley sported a Tom Ford suit and the simplicity of Irinas outfit made for the perfect red carpet moment. A Star Is Born was up for so many awards it was crucial to show up looking their best and they did!
4. Lady Gaga in Alexander McQueen
Lady Gaga was a force to be reckoned with this award season. A Star Is Born was her first major role in a movie and its truly gained her a ton of respect in the industry. I can imagine designers fighting for the chance to dress her this season. In the past she has been known to take flashy approaches in her outfits on the carpet. She’s worn a dress made of meat before … this time around she’s left the meat in the fridge and brought nothing but elegance. Lady Gaga wore a black strapless piece by Alexander McQueen and I LOVED it. She reminded me of a more modern punk Audrey Hepburn. Her hair was in a classic French twist looking do, she had black leather flapper gloves and lastly a Tiffany necklace whom before that night the last it was worn was on Audrey herself! The dress was fitted and flared out at the bottom which allowed for Gaga to look a little taller than she actually is (not a bad thing). She truly and literally looked like a Star.
